Kitchen Cabinet Painting Services
Spray-Painted Doors
Spray application gives a factory-smooth finish that brush and roller cannot match — no brush marks, no roller texture, no lap lines. The result is even, flat, and professional.
Doors are removed from carcasses, taken to our controlled spray area, prepared, primed, and sprayed with two-part lacquer. The paint is applied in a dust-free environment with consistent film thickness on every surface.
Solid Wood and MDF Cabinets
Solid wood and MDF behave differently when painted. Solid wood grain can raise after priming and requires sanding between coats. MDF edges absorb primer heavily and need sealing before topcoats are applied.
We assess the door material before quoting and adjust our preparation system accordingly. We use specialist wood primer on solid wood and an MDF sealer primer on board materials.
Colour Selection
A colour change is the most popular reason clients contact us. White, grey, and navy are the most common choices, but we work with any shade. For period properties in Lindfield and Cuckfield, heritage shades are popular.
Darker colours require more coats to achieve full coverage and are priced accordingly. We can supply colour swatches to help narrow down the choice.
Cabinet Painting vs Replacement
A full kitchen replacement typically costs between £10,000 and £25,000 or more. Painting the existing doors and carcasses costs between £1,000 and £3,000 depending on the size of the kitchen and finish system used.
If the carcasses are sound, the layout works, and the hardware is in reasonable condition, cabinet painting is sensible. Many clients in Burgess Hill and central Haywards Heath have chosen this route.
Worktops and Carcasses
We paint carcasses and internal surfaces where clients want a more complete update. Carcass painting uses the same preparation and primer system as door fronts, using satin rather than gloss for the interior.
For broader room painting that connects to the kitchen, we combine the scope into a single project. See our interior painting and home renovation pages.

Here’s How It Works
1. Site Visit and Assessment
We look at the door material, carcass condition, existing finish, and kitchen layout. We confirm the colour, finish type, and scope. Fixed price given at this stage.
2. Door Removal
Cabinet doors and drawer fronts are removed carefully. Hinges and hardware are labelled so doors return to their original positions. Doors are transported to our spray area.
3. Preparation
Doors are cleaned and degreased thoroughly. Surfaces are sanded, edges sealed on MDF, and any damage is filled. The right primer is applied for the specific material.
4. Spray Application
Two coats of two-part lacquer are applied in a controlled environment. Each coat is allowed to cure fully before the next. Sanding between coats removes any dust nibs.
5. Refitting
Painted doors are returned and refitted in the correct positions. Hinges are adjusted where needed for a clean, even reveal. Hardware is refitted and the kitchen is left clean and ready to use.

Kitchen Cabinet Painting Costs in Haywards Heath
Kitchen cabinet painting typically costs between £1,000 and £3,000 for a standard fitted kitchen, depending on the number of doors, material type, and finish type.

What Drives the Price
Number of doors (more doors mean more preparation and spray passes); material type (solid wood requires more preparation than MDF); finish type (two-tone kitchens and premium sheen levels add cost).
Bolnore Village kitchens from the early 2000s typically have MDF door fronts with a flat profile — among the most straightforward surfaces to spray with excellent results when prepared and primed correctly.
Typical Ranges
Smaller kitchen, Burgess Hill 1970s semi — 10–12 door fronts, MDF, single colour: £1,000–1,600. Standard kitchen, Haywards Heath central detached — 15–18 doors, spray finish: £1,400–2,400.
Larger kitchen with island, Lindfield or Cuckfield detached — 20–26 doors, solid wood or mixed, two colours: £2,200–3,500+.
Combined Projects
For a whole-room refresh that includes walls and ceiling alongside the cabinets, see our interior painting page. For renovation projects where the kitchen is one part of a larger programme, see our home renovation page.
